I was born in Georgetown, Washington D.C. on Dec. 11, 1958.
I attended St. Bernadette's K - 8th grade in Springfield, VA.
I graduated from Bishop O'Connell High School in Arlington, VA in 1977.
I attended Old Dominion University in Norfolk, VA for one year, where I learned to surf.
I transferred to Mary Washington in Fredericksburg, VA, graduating in 1982 with a B.A. in English and a minor in history. I played soccer for four years at Mary Washington under coach Roy Gordon.
I earned a Masters Degree in Secondary Education Administration from Oklahoma University in 1988 - Go Sooners!
I've taught English and coached soccer since 1981. I've also coached football, tennis, basketball, and softball.
I enjoy reading, writing, making stained glass, painting, soccer, snowboarding, ice hockey, surfing, fishing, canoeing, kayaking, snorkeling, chess, back gammon, scrabble, tennis, racquetball, back packing, frisbee golf, and mountain climbing.
I hitch hiked from Virginia to California and back in college and have been traveling ever since.
I've travelled to Europe, Canada, Mexico four times each and to all the United States except Alaska (soon I hope).
I've climbed most of New Hampshire's 4,000 foot mountains and many of Colorado's 14,000 foot mountains (with Kez).
I've been to hundreds of concerts beginning with Bad Company in 1975 in Washington's Capitol Center.
Some of the major shows I've attended are The Eagles, Fleetwood Mac, The Who, The Cars, Boston, Foreigner, Billy Idol, The Allman Brothers, Lynyrd Skynyrd, Outlaws, Molly Hatchet, U2, The Rolling Stones, Little Feat, Stevie Ray Vaughn, INXS, George Harrison, The Pretenders, Jimmy Cliff and Peter Tosh, Jack Johnson, Matchbox 20, Kenny Chesney, Blues Traveler...
I've been to many sporting events and watched countless hours of sports my whole life (free agency has killed my enthusiasm). I was raised a Washington Redskins, Boston Celtics, Washington Capitals, Boston Red Sox, Boston Bruins, and New England Patriots fan because we lived in Washington, but my parents and grandparents are all from Boston. We spent summers in Cape Cod and Christmas Breaks in Boston.
I live in Joplin with my wife, Heather, and daughters, Savannah, Meredith, and Hailey. I am blessed and happy. I feel I've had a wonderful life. God willing, I will have many more adventures with my family and friends.
